Inger Marie

Biography
20 years of experience
Inger Marie has gathered lots of talent in singing, started from the time she grew up listening to her fathers singing and playing music, and she soon discovered the joy of performing in front of an audience of family and friends. She grew up in the small town Arendal, Norway. Inger Marie has accumulated experience in the jazz-pop genre for almost all her life. For nearly twenty years, she collaborated closely with lots of great musicians with a nationwide reputation.

For 6 years, she was the lead singer of a local big band, and later on she led her own jazz quintet, “My Favorite Strings”. She also had the pleasure of working closely with one of Norways finest latin-jazz guitarists, Tom Lund, the founder of the renowned group “Trio de Janeiro”.
2004

In 2004, Martin Myhre, the brilliant and well known musician, composer and producer, offered to produce her record.  Producer Lars Martin Myhre says that never did he get a bigger surprise than when Inger Marie Gundersen made her debut in a recording studio. She was displaying a voice so controlled, so beautiful and so personal at her first recording date that the seasoned producer had a big surprise of the warm and direct communication in her voice.

Inger Marie has been building up a solid relationship built on mutual respect with several musicians from the surprisingly high quality pool of musicians in an around her home town. They provide the exquisite backing on her recordings, as well as on stage. A fact that needs to be mentioned is an impressive saxophonist ?ivind G. St?mer, Inger Maries own son. He joined his mother’s band after having played with some of the major musicians in Norway.

Released: 2009 by Hitman Jazz, Thailand

Less is More. Inger Marie’s selection the great American Songbook, combined with her originals. This is her special album as she has a new collaborator, producer and guitarist Georg Wadenius,  as well as Mathias Eick performs trumpet near perfection for this album. Some songs in this album are: That’s All, Turn You Lights Down Low – Bob Marley.

Released: 2007 by Htiman Jazz, Thailand

Her first album with a Danish producer, S?ren Sigumfeldt, recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden, with the most well-known Swedish guitar virtuoso Ulf Wakenius, included Gunnar Halle (trumpet) and Niclas Knudsen (electric guitar). This album was released in most European countries. This release was celebrated in grand style with a lavish release concert in Arendal’s Culture House october, 2007.

Japanese records discovered her album, and became one of the most famous vocal jazz singers in Japan, Korea, The Philippines, Hong Kong. The most famous track is Will you still love me tomorrow.
